Shoot Magazine

Shoot Magazine was a football magazine that was first published in the U.K. in 1969 with Bobby Moore on it's cover.

It was outstanding in the 70's and 80's for it's news stories and it's articles on all aspects of football in England and north of the border and its high standard of writing from various contributors over the years.

The magazine also featured Paul Trevillions famous 'You are the Ref' comic strip which was very popular.

The annual free gift which I always looked forward to as a kid were the famous 'Shoot League Ladders', a cardboard sheet  for the English and Scottish Leagues which was slitted and the team tabs could be slotted in and moved up or down according to the results. Nowadays these ladder's and tabs are still found for sale on Ebay and the like.

In the 70's Shoot merged with goal and was published as Shoot/Goal.

The brand was sold off in 2008.

Shoot Annuals and other branded items were sold in that time.

Shoot never numbered their issues but i have reliably read that there was 1717 issues printed. There were no issues for six weeks from 17th May to 21 June 1980 or for five weeks from 30th June  to 28th July 1984 due to industrial action,

Shoot Number 1 as it would be if it were numbered with Bobby on the front is very sought after and collectable.
